From ICOM (some people really need to post who is writing what i.e. you cannot call someone out and then not say who made the post):
I know I have said it time and time again, but one of my favorite aspects of the League of Get off Me has to do with the name edits/changes. I have always been one for keeping the original name of the team - to build a foundation of a solid franchise (not neccessarily a team/winner) - Dawlinators (Stalinators for two weeks; bad example) for example. With that said, I think the name changes are great, too.
I just recently noticed a few worth noting.
BTR - This guy has changed his team name more times than ODB changed his name (my personal favorite being ODB). He has gone from the GOM Champions (very original) through various changes to arrive at Born to Run. Then, in an effort to appeal to the younger, 'hip-hop' crowd, the higher ups decided BTR was as smooth as a Miller Genuine Draft. Here's to you BTR!
Chuck's Champs - Formerly known as Chuckie's Champs. Minimal change you say. I disagree. As we all know, Chuck was kicked out of the league circa 2005/6. There was an effort to replace him with a laundry list of candidates. Instead, the commissioner, being his usual, political self, decided to let Chuckie re-enroll in the league as part of a 1 team detraction and 3 team expansion (personally, ICOM will never understand). In an effort to clean-up his prior performance, Chuckie thought a new name (but still keeping with the tradition of old) would give his team a new look, and maybe, make the other owners forget about the past.
As an aside, I was skeptical about letting Chuck back into the league after his horrible 6 week performance with 0 posts, 0 moves and 0 wins - let us call it the Chuckie Champ Hat Trick (following the Gordie Howe format). But, all has been forgiven and Chuckie, with his new name and new team, won me over, as well as the rest of the GOM.
Also, it was noted that maybe Chuckie's team name never changed at all - but I needed something to write about.
And, last but not least - the eldest McCann Brothers. I do not give Kevin a lot of credit, but ID4s have been that way for quite a while; which is more than I can say for the Top Guns (formerly the Rounders, hell, I can't even remember the rest of the names) and the Black Knights (there have been so many changes - I just plain forgot).
This might seem like the middle of the post, but I am done. TBC???
